World's premier platform connecting students, tutors, and parents for a brighter future.
Why we exist, what we do, and where we're going
Astegni started because Ethiopia's university entrance exam pass rate sits in the single digits — a symptom of overcrowded classrooms, underpaid and undermotivated teachers, and the lack of a proper platform for educational supplementation.
Astegni is an early-stage edtech company based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia — a platform where students can find verified, rated tutors for any subject or skill, not just academics. Tutors deliver their teaching using a shared whiteboard (with AI features coming soon) and progress tracking, and soon digital labs, applying TaRL through proven high-dosage tutoring in small groups of up to four students, both online and in person.
Our mission is to contribute to UN Sustainable Development Goal 4 — quality education — by teaching every student at their right level, encouraging high-dosage tutoring in small groups of up to four students as the way to close traditional learning gaps.
Our vision is to make high-dosage, personalized tutoring the global standard for closing learning gaps — reaching millions of students across every community we serve.
Quality supplementation shouldn't depend on a family's income. We're committed to extending discounted and sponsored access to underserved parents, schools, and communities, and to partnering with local institutions so that TaRL through high-dosage tutoring reaches as many students as possible who need it but cannot afford it.
